People's Open Access Education Initiative

Following a pilot course module on Maternal Mortality (see below) 11 course modules are currently under development. 70 people from 23 countries have volunteered to help with this.

An evaluation of the pilot run of this course module was conducted (38 peoples from 8 countries enrolled initially) and the results are shown here.

All comments and suggestions for improvement or additional resources will be much appreciated.

A paper giving the background to the Peoples-uni.org is published in the Bulletin of the World Health Organisation.

Awards and assessment:

The UK Royal Society of Health has agreed to work with us towards the supervision of assessments and the offering of awards (at the certificate and diploma levels).

Developing a competence framework for Public Health professionals in the Peoples-uni.org

Openlearn (Open University) conference October. To discuss open access of education materials. Paper submitted by Dick Heller and Perihan Torun on behalf of Peoples-uni “ Embedding open content in education – Peoples-uni.org”. The PowerPoint presentation can be seen here.

The UK Faculty of Public Health have offered collaboration, and a number of trainees are involved in course module development and on-line facilitation. A presentation was made at the Annual Conference of the Faculty, and can be seen here.
