Course modules and Workload

Course modules.

Students can enrol in individual course modules. If you successfully complete 4 modules, you will receive the Certificate of Public Health from the Peoples-uni, and the Diploma of Public Health after 8 modules. Any 4 will count to the Certificate, but for the Diploma, you will be expected to take at least two of the 'Foundation Sciences' and two of the 'Public Health Problems' course modules. You can take these in any order. In view of workload, we recommend that you do not enrol in more than one or two modules each 'semester' (courses will be offered twice a year, starting in October and March).

The workload.

Everyone learns at different speeds. Each of the course modules (with 8 going to the Diploma) contains 5 Topics which are covered over a two week period (although there is also plenty of extra 'catch up' time). Each Topic is considered to need roughly 30 learning hours - this includes time for the assessments, reading, discussions so some will take place outside the two weeks. However, you should be prepared to commit 10 hours a week for each course module. There is more detail on this in the section 'Structure of each course module'.
